TOO CHEAP
The 78th Highlanders stationed on the Dutch island of Bommel in 1794 had a second encounter with the French secret service not long after the operator of a windmill was caught signalling their parade times to French artillery. A man was found peddling gin to the Highlanders at a ridiculously low price. He confessed that the French were subsidising the price of the gin in a bid to get the Highlanders drunk on a regular basis to make launching a surprise attack easier.
