Scots-born Canadian writer Paul Cowan began his career in journalism as a copy boy on one of Scotland’s most prestigious daily newspapers, the Glasgow Herald. Since then, he has contributed to most of the major media outlets in Britain and Canada. He came to Canada in 1997 to work for the Edmonton Sun. During his time with the Sun he reported from Afghanistan and Kosovo. His first book, How the Scots Created Canada, was greeted by critical acclaim when it was published in 2007. It's now a Canadian best-seller. His most recent book is With Wellington in the Peninsula, is a re-issue of an 1827 military memoir which he re-edited for a 21st Century readership. He also added footnotes which help put the original author's experiences in fuller context. He lives, for the time being, in Edmonton, Alberta.
